Who Will Show Us Any Good?

In a world where evil is celebrated as good, and all the foundations of the earth are crumbling, “There are many who ask, ‘Who will show us any good?’ The answer is Jesus… “Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us” (Psalm 4:6). The antidote for heavy hearts is to delight ourselves in Christ – all He is and all we have in Him.

The Lord has a question and an announcement to our wicked world… “O you sons of men, how long will you turn My glory into shame? How long will you love emptiness and seek after lies? But know this, that the Lord has set apart those who are godly for Himself” (Psalm 4:3).

Jesus announced the safety of those who are “set apart” by faith in Him… “I give to them eternal life and they shall never perish, neither shall anyone pluck them out of My hand” (John 10:28). This results in five marvelous realities… access to God in prayer, the guarantee of coming good, gladness in our hearts that nothing can steal, the knowledge of divine protection – “I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep, for You, O LORD, You alone make me dwell in safety” – and exemption from the coming Day of Judgment on this world (Romans 5:9).

Who will show us any good? Only One who “loved us and gave Himself for us.” He has said, “Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
