The Glory Of God

“The LORD (Jehovah) raises up those who are bowed down…” (Psalm 146:8).
Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity 18-years, and was bowed together, and could in no way lift herself up. And when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him, and said to her, ‘Woman, you are released from your infirmity.’ And He laid His hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God” (Luke 13:11-13).
The ruler of the synagogue was furious, claiming there were “Six days in which people ought to work. Come, in that time frame, and be healed, but not on the sabbath day!” Jesus answered him, “You hypocrite! Do not each one of you release your ox or donkey from the stall and lead them away to water them? And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound for 18-years, be released from this bondage on the sabbath day?” When Jesus said this, all His adversaries were ashamed. And all the people rejoiced for the glorious things done by Him.
What Jesus did outwardly that day, He still does inwardly. Jesus invited this woman to come to Him, and when she did, He made her whole. His invitation is still available to all who are bowed down, burdened and weary from sin’s bondage… “Come to Me, that you might have life” (John 5:40).
It’s fun to imagine the testimony of this woman to those around her. And God will use yours too. What a joy to tell others that we’ve “seen the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ,” and "What He’s done for me, He’ll do for you." Keep sharing the Good News.
