His Eyes, Our Eyes

The Lord sees everything – everything awful and everything good. Jesus saw Nathaniel praying under a fig tree when no one could have known. Knowing the Scripture says, “The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers,” was all it took for Nathaniel. He knew Jesus was God and followed him the rest of his life.
This truth is a great comfort to us. The Lord says that He “beholds mischief and spite” in order to repay it with His justice (Psalm 10:14). He is the unseen Witness, observing the closed-door meetings of every government on earth (Psalm 82:1). He sees the thoughts and intentions of every heart (Hebrews 4:12). Our world doesn’t know it, but… “The eyes of the Lord preserve knowledge (truth!)” and He will overthrow the words of liars” (Proverbs 22:12).
Yet, in all that the Lord sees, the Bible tells us these wonderful words … “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to prove Himself strong in the behalf of those whose hearts are perfect toward Him” (2 Chronicles 16:9a). What incentive to trust Him, honor Him, and serve Him with a whole heart!
What a comfort to know that His eyes are upon His people. May we lift our eyes above the troubles and opinions of the world and say, “My eyes are ever toward the Lord.”
