Our Father's Business

Jesus lived with a clarity for His mission that serves as a much-needed example to us all. He made a statement at the age of twelve to His parents who were looking for Him and found Him teaching at the temple… “Don’t you know I must be about My Father’s business?” This very statement should be our life’s mission statement.
He taught us how to love… “With all your heart, all your soul, and all your might” (Deuteronomy 6:5).
He showed us how to care for our fellow man… “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31).
He showed us how to have empathy… “Rejoice with those that rejoice and weep with those that weep” (Romans 12:15).
His love for the lost was what led Him to lay down His life in order that we all might have the opportunity to know Him as Savior and spend eternity with Him. Likewise, we are called to be living sacrifices.
So what is our response to this beautiful example of love? May our hearts love fully, so much so, that the fragrance of His love lingers after we’re gone. And may it be said of us that we were people of undying hope, of Christ-like love, and of eternal purpose. The time is short… we must be busy about our Father’s business. Nothing else matters like this. This world needs Jesus.
