Who Is This?

“Who is this that comes from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? This One who is glorious in His apparel, travelling in the greatness of His strength?” “I, who speak in righteousness, mighty to save” (Isaiah 63:1).
“Who is this?” … We’ve heard this question before. As Jesus healed the paralyzed man, He saw their faith and said, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.” And the scribes and Pharisees began to reason, saying, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” (Luke 5:21).
Later, Jesus sat at dinner with a former leper which He had healed. A woman came weeping and anointed His feet with ointment and tears. Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” Once again, those sitting around said within themselves, “Who is this that forgives sins also?” (Luke 7:49).
Herod, who killed John the Baptist, also heard of Jesus and His miracles. He said, “John I have beheaded: but who is this?” And when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the donkey, presenting Himself to the Israel and the Gentile world as King, all the city was moved, saying, “Who is this?”
By that Friday, he hung on a Roman cross with this “accusation” over His head in three languages, answering the question… “THIS IS JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.”
The Forgiver of sins became the Defeater of death, and is not just the King of the Jews, but King of Nations, King of kings… “The God of the whole earth shall He be called” (Isaiah 54:5).
It is vital that people understand who the real Jesus is… for only One forgives sins, defeated death, speaks in righteousness, and is Mighty to save. And only by meeting Him now, will people be ready for His return.
