The Living Word

God has always made sure that His Word and His will was known, from generation to generation, first through creation, then chosen vessels (prophets), that faithfully delivered His Word to the people. And then through His Holy written Word. How blessed we are to live in a day and age when the living Word of God is in our hands and homes for us to read anytime. But we have to be in it.
It is the Word of God that changes lives, not a new group of peers or a friendlier church; it is God that gives us our identity, that shows us our need of a Savior, and comes to dwell within our hearts, changing us from within. But like the world, we tend to put more effort into our “self help” than seeking God for help.
A young lady that was struggling with depression and feelings of profound defeat had tried more hours at the gym to boost endorphins. She was now eating Mediterranean and playing relaxing music… but she felt the same. At her father’s advice she decided to feed her heart, soul and mind with the things of God FIRST, and she noticed her defeatedness was giving way to waves of hope and fresh encouragement. The darkness was being overtaken with Light. This is the power of God…
“Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and ALL these other things will be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33). Making God our priority is essential in living victoriously. This world is far too dark to trust our lives to our own strength.
There is a rich promise for us… that the Word NEVER returns void (empty); it changes lives. May we spend less time doom scrolling and more time learning of the power and faithfulness of God. Before we know it, instead of deflating in despair, we will be quoting to ourselves, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” And, “Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.” Victory is ours in Jesus. May we lay hold of it with both hands and live there!
