Where Faith Stands

“For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified… that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God” (1 Corinthians 2:4).

There is no balm for the weary heart like the love, power, and wisdom of God. All of which are revealed by the Cross of Christ. He was the Lamb “slain from the foundation of the world” because God loved us before the foundation of the world. Nothing, not years, enemies, or trials, can separate us from that love.

Jesus said, “I have power to lay my life down and take it up again.” And by His power and authority, He upholds, sustains, and infuses us with strength. This is a power the world knows nothing of, but it is this “resurrection power” that He works in us and toward us (Ephesians 1:18). Nothing could stop God’s plan of salvation, or His rising again. And nothing can stop His coming reign that we have been called to share.

And then there is His wisdom… so far above the ways of the world. Isn’t it wonderful to follow Jesus, see how He speaks and works, and know that He is the Wisdom of God and the Power of God? That God the Father would offer everlasting life through His Son, to everyone who will be honest about sin, is a wisdom light-years above the ways of this world… “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways.”

Knowing all this, shall we doubt Him during earth’s short days and trials? Let us keep our eyes on Christ, for all God’s love, power, and wisdom toward us, is not only displayed in Him, but imparted to us through Him, so that our faith “stands” on an unshakeable Foundation.
