The Life Raft

As our culture drifts further and further away from its Godly heritage, the younger generations are exasperated with the mundaneness of life with no purpose. There is no lasting satisfaction in living to please the flesh; nor is there real contentment in the push of a higher job or education if it has no eternal value.
This lack of purpose has caused Gen Z (ages 13-28) to seek “the old ways” (Jeremiah 6:16) and they are calling out to God. Church attendance is up 20% in this age group and Bible sales over the last year are up 22% (for the first time in years).
Everyone is looking for Something Real to cling to and that is only found in the person of Jesus Christ. When Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were in a foreign land, with a foreign belief system, they found their Life Raft in God alone and He was everything they needed.
Even Ruth, the young widowed Moabitess, who came to a knowledge of God through her mother-in-law, Naomi, found that she had an anchor for her soul even in a new land with a foreign people who were their supposed enemies. “Your God will be my God, and your people will be my people” was her confident declaration. She had found a Home, a Refuge, in her love of God and His love for her.
May we all be loving enough to offer this Life Raft to everyone we share our lives with. They are truly searching.
