Word Of Truth

“Study (give all diligence, accuracy, and haste) to present yourselves approved to God, a workman that will not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).
The “Word of Truth” is a perfect name for our Bibles. Being the “testimony of God,” it holds the answers to everything that is debated and wondered about in this life. We are to “cut it straight” meaning, we are to know the difference between Old Covenant and New, between Law and Grace, between what God expects from man and what He gifts to man. It’s to be read and interpreted in context, so that one day, when we all stand before the Lord, no one needs to be ashamed for mishandling it.
After the Titanic sank in 1912, there were many survivors who shared their eyewitness testimonies of how the ship went down. But in 1984, years later, architects and scientists got together and held a press conference on how the ship sunk. An elderly survivor came forward saying they were mistaken. She had seen it all and remembered well. But the architects responded that since she was just a little girl at the time, she was confused by her experience.
However, when the Titanic was finally discovered, in September of 1985, the aged lady was exonerated. The ship had snapped exactly where she said – and all the “experts” who weren’t there, and who didn’t see it or experience it, were found to be false.
This is exactly why it’s so important to know God’s Word well today. God has left us foundational Truth for every issue – creation, gender, marriage, morality, life and death, salvation, Israel, the nations, and the future yet to come. We are not left to the shifting ideas of mortal men, or the lies of the devil that are deceptively pawned to society as ‘fact.’
The world slanders the Bible as old, out-of-touch, and bigoted, because it exposes their error and tells of their coming judgment. In truth, it is perfectly relevant for our times, alive, sharp, powerful, and puts all humanity on an even playing field.
Read it well. Study it accurately. Pray over it sincerely. Stand on it firmly.
