The Desert Of Self-Reliance

People are predictable. We all strive to chart out our life to the best of our abilities, only to be met with obstacles that leave us confused and disillusioned.
The Samaritan woman at the well was thirsty for a better life. She had had 5 husbands and was presently living with a man who wasn’t her husband. But her gnawing thirst was never satisfied as long as she relied on herself to bring true contentment. She believed what many still believe today, that discontentment, if acted upon, will bring greener pastures, but instead, it brings a lonely, desolate desert.
We were never made to live this life apart from God, or apart from His guidance. Jesus said, “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all [other] things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33). Those who spurn the Lord’s leading make self-reliance their god. But Jesus has a better way...
“If you knew the Gift of God, and Who is speaking to you, you would ask Him, and He would give you Living Water … Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst again. Indeed, the water I give them will be a spring of water welling up into eternal life” (John 4:10,14).
Dear friends, it’s not too late for the Lord to do a ‘New Thing’ in your life. Give God your life, your plans, your dreams, and watch Him turn your desert into springs of Living Water. There’s still time.
