Sanctify Your Mind

To sanctify something is to set it apart for a special purpose. How do we do that with our minds when the world is bombarding our senses each day? The Scriptures give us clear guidelines…
“Set your minds on things Above, not on things of this world” (Colossians 3:2). This is our mental compass. Just like the ship that is tossed and beaten in the dark, stormy night, its compass keeps it headed for home. Likewise, living for Christ, investing in our personal spiritual growth, and living for Him through the power of His Spirit, knowing that Heaven awaits us, guides our thoughts and actions and keeps our minds pointed towards Home.
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is - His good pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2). The world wants to disciple us and will force their standard upon us, but we are already Jesus’ disciples. When we make THIS our complete focus a transformation takes place, our minds are renewed, refreshed and strengthened. The world’s traps and manipulations don’t work; Satan’s fiery darts of discouragement don’t land, and we can walk in victory.
But remember…it all starts with our minds. May it be set apart for Him.
