Jesus: Ark Of Safety

When God told Noah to build an ark because He was going to flood the world, Noah got to work with the intent of saving his family first. Anyone else was welcome… but they ignored and mocked his invitation.

Today we have a fossil record on the highest mountains, a global continental scar in the deepest oceans, cultures all over the world with flood legends, and scientific evidence that all human DNA can be traced back to eight people – the exact number of people on the Ark. So exact is the DNA, that they can tell three brothers (Shem, Ham, and Japeth, Noah’s sons) each had wives, two of which were sisters.

Think of the joy when Noah, his wife, and their three sons and their wives, stepped out of the Ark. They had been preserved from certain death. How glad the sons must have been, remembering the day they ignored the mockery of their peers, grabbed hammers and saws, and began to build with their dad. They had seen his integrity before God, and they too believed, “God is true.”

The Ark was a picture of salvation in Christ. Like Noah, God calls us to warn the ungodly, call them to turn away from the sins of the world, and urge them to “believe into” Christ by faith (conviction of truth based on evidence). He alone offers eternal safety and promises deliverance from the judgment to come.

Our world has been given more than enough proof to believe God’s Word is true from start to finish. His Word is tested and proven. He means what He says and performs what He promises. He’s worthy of our deepest faith and loyalty while the world mocks…

And the Lord waits for the last person to come in.
