“I waited patiently for the Lord, and He inclined His ear to me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God: many shall see it (what He’s done for me), and revere Him, and shall trust in the Lord” (Psalm 40:1-3).

Many people who look fine on the outside, are in pits of despair on the inside.  Jesus not only hears prayers for help, He has the power to save. Psalm 40 goes on to explain that lifting us from our ‘horrible pits’ cost Him His life… “A body You have prepared for Me. Lo, I am coming, in the volume of Scripture it is written concerning Me.”

In love for us, He came to pay for our release from sin, taking the curse of death for us. His life for ours was the ransom, so we could begin anew. And He’s good to His Word to “make all things new” in our lives – fresh starts, new strength, new purposes, new joys ahead, and new wonders of His love.  In fact, this is where life truly begins. With our feet firmly planted on the Rock of Christ and His Word, He establishes our “goings.”

Our world is rolling carelessly right into the Great Tribulation, but for all those who want a Rescue now, the Lord is listening for every cry that calls upon His name. And the new song? … “O, the Love that drew salvation’s plan! O, the grace that brought it down to man! O, the mighty gulf that God did span, at Calvary!”
