Audacious Faith

What kind of faith we have marks our lives. And our lack of faith scars our lives. The Bible is full of examples of both, but the one that stands out is the God-honoring faith of Caleb and Joshua.
When everyone else looked at the physical circumstances around them and trembled in fear, Caleb and Joshua remembered God’s words…”The whole land of Canaan, where you now reside as a foreigner, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you; and I will be their God”(Genesis 17:8). They needed nothing else, but the promise of God. It was enough!
We are heading into turbulent waters world-wide. Radical Islam is on the March, and secularism is turning our world cold and heartless. But even in the midst of these stormy days, we hold promises from God to never leave us nor forsake us; to return and take us to where He is, and to present us as His blood bought treasure to the Father, blameless. The question is, will we live according to His promises or in the fear that stalks each day?
Peter and the disciples were purposely put in this very scenario to teach them, and us, a lesson. The storm raged, the waves crashed over the edge of the boat, and terror filled their hearts. Just as they thought this night might end their lives, they see Jesus walking to them on the water. In Peter’s excitement, he calls out, “Jesus, if it is you, bid me to come to you on the water.” “Come!” Jesus said. As Peter climbed out of the boat, he began to walk on water, until he feared the wind and waves and began to sink. Jesus reached down and caught his hand and said, “Oh ye of little faith, why did you doubt?”
In these end days, we are going to be asked to exercise our faith in ways that will stretch us, even scare us, but God will be with us. May it be said of us, as we stand before our Savior, that our audacious faith moved mountains, conquered schemes of the devil and opened opportunities that could be unlocked no other way.
May our faith be bold, brave and grounded in the promises of Almighty God. Let’s go!
