When Heaven Can't Be Silent

In the dark political days of Roman rule, when Ceasars and their tier of rulers all imagined themselves ‘gods’ – abusing their power while living in excess and immorality – it was the message of angels that split the skies and brought “good news of great joy to all people: for unto you is born this day in the city of David (Bethlehem), a Savior, who is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:10,11).

When all hope seemed gone and the One they thought was their Messiah hung on a Roman cross, then lay in a borrowed tomb, sealed and guarded – it was the message of angels that split the dawn of that Sunday morning, bringing “awe and great joy” to their hearts: “He is not here, for He is risen, as He said. Go quickly and tell His disciples” (Matthew 28:6).

When heavy-hearted disciples watched Jesus ascend, until a cloud received Him out of their sight, it was angels who said – “This same Jesus, which taken up from you into Heaven, shall so come again in like manner as you have seen Him go into Heaven” (Acts 1:11).

As we look at the malignant state of our world… isn’t it wonderful to know that we have a Savior who put on flesh, defeated sin and death, and He’s returning to judge the world it in righteousness? At the darkest hours, Heaven couldn’t be silent, and since Jesus made us citizens of Heaven through the work of the Cross, neither shall we. Rejoice and spread the word – our Savior is coming soon!
