What He'll Look For

Jesus told a parable of a King who made a marriage for His Son. He invited many who refused. So He invited others from the highways, byways, and hedges, until the marriage feast was filled with people.

“But when the King came in to see the guests, He saw a man who did not have a wedding garment on. And He said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here not having a wedding garment?’ And the man was speechless. Then the King said to His servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (Matthew 22:11-13).

What is the wedding garment the King was looking for? Righteousness – that provision found only through the Cross of Christ… “He, who knew no sin, became sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God through Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

God has given mankind His Ten Commandments so that “every mouth may be stopped,” that people might see their need for Christ’s forgiveness and provision of righteousness now - not when it's too late. This is what the Father will look for on Judgment Day: those wearing the righteousness provided by His Son.

How do we want to be found when Christ returns? Paul said it best… “Not having my own righteousness… but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith” (Philippians 3:9), because the Wedding Feast is very near.
