Trampling Grace

“If we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: of how much sorer punishment, do you suppose, shall one be thought worthy, who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the Covenant, which was intended for his sanctification, an unholy thing, and has insulted the Spirit who offers grace?” (Hebrews 10:26-29).
Trampling grace is a far more serious offence than breaking the law. The grace of God was offered through the blood of His Son – incalculable in cost, offered in loving kindness, covering the worst of crimes, transforming sinners into family members with eternal inheritance, a home in glory, and a new life of righteous power.
“God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved… And this is the condemnation, that Light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than Light, because their deeds were evil.” (John 3:17-19).
Jesus’ first coming was to save. His return will be to Judge the world in righteousness, and “it is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the Living God” as His enemy. But what a joy to be in His hands of safety through grace.
Grace is a time period that has a closing date, and we may have just witnessed it… “And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness, then shall the end (of the Age) come” (Matthew 24:14).
May our Gospel call be bold and urgent. Maranatha.
