The beautiful Christmas song, O Holy Night, was written in 1847, but you would think it was written for our own troubled day…  “O Holy night, the stars are brightly shining, it is the night of our dear Savior’s birth. Long lay the world in sin and error pining, till He appeared and the soul felt its worth. The thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices! For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn. Fall on your knees, O hear the angels voices, O night divine, O night when Christ was born…”

Our world is indeed weary, and with weariness, follows hopelessness. BUT, into this dark and sinful world a Light was given. Isaiah prophesied of this Great Light 700 years before Christ… “The people walking in darkness have seen a Great Light; for those living in the land of deep (spiritual) darkness, a Light has dawned” (Isaiah 9:2).

Friends, we know we are in the depths of deep spiritual darkness, world-wide. And there’s never been a more important time to shine the Light of Jesus. Praise God we have a Savior - a Deliverer - a Redeemer. His precious words ring like bells in the halls of our hearts - “Behold, I am coming quickly!” and a “thrill of Hope” washes through our weariness, refreshing and uplifting our hearts.

Soon, we will shed this mortal state and enter a “new and glorious Morn,” where joy and praise fill our hearts, and the curse will be no more. All because He came to us…

“O fall on your knees…”
