The Restrainer In You

“For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work: only He who now withholds him, will continue until He is taken out of the way. And then shall that wicked one be revealed…” (2 Thessalonians 2:7).

The Holy Spirit, through born-again Believers, is the “Restrainer” of evil in this world. It is the Holy Spirit’s work to convict the world of sin, the need for righteousness found only through repentance and faith in Christ, and the truth of coming judgment at Christ’s return – through you.

Jesus told His disciples that they were the “salt” of the earth, which preserves from decay, and the “light of the world,” dispelling darkness. The Evangelical Church is to be “the pillar and ground of the truth” in every community, an Embassy of Heaven, preaching Christ as Lord, and standing firm on His Word of Truth.

How vital is your “light” in your sphere of influence! Jesus didn’t save you from your sins to hide you. He said, “People do not light a candle and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, to give light to all the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works (works of faith for the Lord to draw people to Christ), and glorify your Father which is in Heaven.”

“Therefore, dear family of God, stand fast, and hold on to the teachings passed down to you (the Word of God)… now our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God our Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts, and establish YOU in every good word and work.”
