The Parable Before Us

Jesus told a parable… “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for Himself a kingdom, and to return. And He called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said to them, ‘Occupy till I come.’ But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, ‘We will not have this man to reign over us!’” (Luke 19:12-15). Why did His citizens hate Him? Because He was righteous and they were wicked.
On October 18, a rally will take place across America called, “No Kings.” It is a day of “national defiance” against the President, letting him know that they will not have him to rule over them. It’s the modern-day parable before our eyes, but it reveals a deeper reality of our timeline: our world is telling Jesus the same thing.
But the parable continues with a delightful matter-of-fact statement… “And it came to pass, when He returned.” Yes, He returned - as King of kings – just as He promised. He blessed His faithful workers and judged the wicked. All the hate messages, riots, rantings, and staged protests, didn’t stop the King.
For Christ’s messengers, the parable is proof that our King “is not willing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” He sends out His ambassadors, into the highways and byways, inviting, reasoning, and urging. And though He is patient, evil has an end date.
Our message of God’s love is simple… “And this is the record, that God has given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He that has (received) the Son, has life; but the one who rejects the Son of God, has not (forfeits) life” (1 John 5:11,12).
Choose wisely, for the King is coming.
