“We pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling (suffering for His name’s sake), and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness, and the work of faith with power: that the name of the Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Thessalonians 1:11,12).

No amount of evil in the world can stop the will of God. These words were written to people who were enduring great persecutions. But they continued to live in a such a way that the NAME of Jesus was glorified. How could that be? How did they not succumb to depression, doubt, and despair? Because of the life of faith and the work of faith in Christ is infused with resurrection power.

In persecution, they continued to “fulfill the good pleasure of God’s goodness.” In the shadow of death, they continued to proclaim Life in Christ. In death, they refused to sorrow like those who have no hope but looked all the more to the Blessed Hope of His return. In the face of evil, they lived righteously and when they felt weak, they renewed their strength by spending time in God’s Word and prayer.

Everything about living for Christ is triumphant. Everything has the fragrance of resurrection power. Everything pulses with living Hope, the power of righteousness, and the promise of joys to come. Glorify His name. Don't wait for an opportunity - make one.
