Consumer statistics say that every person has an average of 5 accounts across financial institutions and debt is at its highest level ever. But few consider they have a moral account with God which must be settled in this life because it’s eternal… “Each one of us shall give account of himself to God” is the reality-check of this life.

But God, in His love toward us, already provided for our great debt of sin… “And you, that were once alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now has He reconciled, in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, unblameable, and unreproveable in His sight” (Colossians 1:21,22).

“Reconcile” is an accounting term. In Bible times, when an account was closed, a large blob of melted wax would be poured over the sum, and a signet ring stamped into the wax, proving that it was “paid in full.” This is exactly what Jesus did for us. He paid our debt of sin in His blood at the cross, then linked our account to His unsearchable riches, and calls to us… “I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, your transgressions, and, as a cloud, your sins: return to Me, for I have redeemed you” (Isaiah 44:22).

This perfect standing brings perfect peace to our minds and hearts. The one who has received this Gift, through a prayer of repentance and faith in Christ, has no fear of Judgment Day before a holy and righteous God. Our standing has already been declared as “holy, unblameable, and unreprovable” in His sight. And for the remainder of our days in this life, we’ll draw from the riches of His goodness and love.

Have you settled your account with God?
