The Hour Is Coming

It does our hearts good to remember that nothing could happen to Jesus until it was “His hour.” Many times the leaders sought to take Him, but no one laid hands on Him, because “His hour was not yet come” (John 7:30). But the night before Passover, He prayed, “Father, the hour is come.” As the mob bound Him, Jesus said, “This is your hour and the power (authority) of darkness.”
God allowed their “hour” of evil, to bring His gift of forgiveness, righteousness, and eternal life to a dying world. Jesus endured the “power of darkness” to save us from it. By receiving Him we are rescued from the dominion of sin and darkness… “Who has delivered us from the power (authority) of darkness and has transferred us into the Kingdom of His dear Son” (Colossians 1:13).
Now we are “kept (guarded) by the power of God through faith” as we walk through this present darkness. Our times are in His mighty hand. As the Gospel invitation goes from our neighborhoods to the ends of the earth, we await another “hour to come” when the world will give account to Him who opens graves, not fills them… “The hour is coming in which all that are in the graves shall hear His voice and shall come forth.” A dawn of perfect justice and rest is coming. One day soon, from Heaven’s side, the Father will say to Christ, “Son, the hour is come.”
Be ready.
