The Flood Of Evil

“When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will raise up a standard against him” (Isaiah 59:19). 

This verse has brought encouragement to so many war-torn saints over the years as they’ve endured personal, as well as societal attacks, from the enemy, leaving them battle-bruised and weary. But take note… God has given evil a limit... an expiration date. 

Although God is patient, “His heart will not always strive with man forever” (Genesis 6:3). Things here on earth have a closing date. Consider the above verse in reference to the story of Noah, who preached repentance to a godless society (for over 120 years) that thought he was a misguided fool. But as their evil increased, much like a pervasive, destructive flood, God “raised up” Noah and his family above the judgment. God’s striving with sinners came to a close… the ark door was shut, and deliverance from evil was granted (Genesis 7). 

Many people today are struggling to comprehend the depth of evil in our world and wondering when God will step in in Holy judgment. Rest assured, weary ones, judgment IS coming, but this window of opportunity is bringing in a final harvest of souls. 

But just like Noah and his family, when our work is done and we have obeyed what He has asked of us, the Lord will “raise us up” to meet Him in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord. “Comfort one another with these words.”
