The Doorposts Of Our Lives

The Jews of Goshen obeyed the instructions of God, given through Moses, and applied the blood of the lamb to the doorposts of their homes in order that the death angel would see it and pass over. To be saved from the evil of their day wasn’t found in wealth, status or how popular they were, but only those found covered in the blood of the perfect lamb would be spared.
Here we sit three millennia later, and this principle is the bedrock of our safety and security in a crooked and perverse generation. Psalm 139 tells us that He sees us doing the daily tasks of life, when we sit down and when we stand, when we go out of our homes and when we return home and lie down. Through it all, “You perceive our thoughts from afar and know what burdens our hearts. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me!”
Do we recognize the treasure we have the minute we place the sacrificial blood of Christ on the doorposts of our hearts? We are forgiven, redeemed, deeply loved and watched over by the One who loves us and gave Himself for us. Whether we are going out or coming in, or marching out on the frontlines trying to be salt and light to a dark, decaying world, His love and protection never ceases.
David KNEW what is was to be held safely in the palm of His hand. He rhetorically asks, “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence?” There was NO place that could separate him from the love of God. He continues, “How precious to me are Your thoughts, God! How great is the sum of them! If I were to count them, they would outnumber the grains of the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.”
May your heart swell with this beautiful knowledge that God is with you always! He died for you and treasures you. His perfect blood has covered you. You are His beloved and His banner over you is love!
