The Calmer Of The Sea

The Bible describes a group of mariners caught in a storm at sea… “The ship mounts up toward heaven, then down again into the depths. Their soul melts because of trouble. They reel back and forth, and stagger like drunk men, and are at their wits end. THEN, they cry to the LORD in their trouble, and He brings them out of their distresses. He makes the storm a calm, so that the waves are still. Then they are glad because things are quiet. So He brings them to their desired haven. Oh, that men would praise the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!” (Psalm 107:23-31).
Jesus sent His disciples across the sea of Galilee, but they got caught in a severe storm in the middle of the night… “The sea arose because of a great wind that blew. So when they had rowed about three-and-a-half miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near the ship: and they were afraid! But He said to them, “I Am; fear not.” Then they willing received Him into the ship – and immediately the ship was at the land where they were headed” (John 6:18-21).
No one who reads the Bible can come away with the ridiculous idea that Jesus never claimed to be God. He not only claimed to be God, He claimed it on every page and in every scenario – the same names, the same power, the same authority, the same righteousness nature… “that all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. The one who does not honor the Son, also dishonors the Father who has sent Him” (John 5:23).
Safe forever are all they who have invited Him into their boat.
