The Best Gift

God doesn’t wait for mankind to “deserve” His kindness, He gives it freely… “He makes His sun to rise on the evil and on the good and sends rain on the just and unjust … He is kind to the unthankful and to the evil … He gives to all, life, breath, and all things.”
Nor does God show favoritism. Jesus told His disciples… “If you only love those who love you, what thanks do you have? For sinners also love those who love them. And if you only do good to those who do good to you, what thanks do you have? For sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. Therefore, love your enemies, and do good… and be merciful, as your Father also is merciful” (Luke 6:32-36).
Everything about the Gift of our Savior and the salvation He brings is a testimony to His grace. In the face of our sins, He says… “I will heal their rebellions; I will love them freely.” All who receive Christ as Lord, and His payment on Cross for our sins, are “justified freely by His grace,” resulting in the further gifts of righteousness and eternal life.
Jesus told His disciples to share His love, saying, “Freely you have received, freely give.” And after He ascended, He poured out His Holy Spirit to open our eyes to the inheritance papers of His Word “that we might know the things freely given us by God.”
Jesus invites people to the very last second before His return… “Let the one who is thirsty (to be right with God in heart and life) come. Whosoever will, let them take of the water of life freely.”
Jesus Christ is the Best Gift ever given! We will spend eternity being showered with the riches of His love. Let us share the urgency of answering His call to salvation.
