The Ambassador

Living abroad was all he had ever known. As a child, he grew up living abroad as his father was also an ambassador. But as the years slipped by, age and fatigue set in. He longed for his home country. His parents were now old and frail; Oh how he wanted to see them! He longed to visit and laugh with his cousins, his aunts and uncles, and longed to meet the newest family members.
But his responsibilities kept him away...until late one night a phone call came... “Sir! Pack your bags quickly! You and your family are being evacuated. War is imminent!” And through the night they were whisked away before trouble could come to them.
As believers in Christ, we can relate! We have so many loved ones safe in the arms of Heaven, while we continue to work in this foreign land - a land that seems to thrive on chaos and deception. We’re Homesick. And the feeling gets stronger everyday. But we carry on...
“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God was making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf; Be reconciled to God” (2 Corinthians 5:20).
But the night is late, and the nations are roaring and threatening. The warning has already been given...” Keep watch! For you do not know on what day your Lord will come” (Matthew 24:42) … “For you yourselves are fully aware that the Lord’s return will come like a thief in the night” (1 Thessalonians 5:2).
Dear friends, not long now, and we’ll be headed Home. The “call” is coming soon. Be ready.
