Science Is Catching Up

Science and the wide array of diagnostic tests are confirming everything the Bible has said about the mind and the heart. Brain scans now reveal that negative thoughts, pessimism, and defeatism, carve a deeply entrenched neural path in the brain that appears black and rugged like a dead branch. When another situation arises, the brain automatically defaults to this same pre-cut response. Brain patterns become predictable and people get stuck in their negativity.
But… when “thoughts are taken captive,” and we choose to say, “I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me,” new neural pathways are made in the brain, and in a scan they light up as though they are glowing and alive, with the radiance of new life and new possibilities.
The Bible knew this all along… “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” He will become what he thinks about, good or bad. “Guard your heart with all diligence for out of it flow the issues of life.” We must bring our thoughts and feelings into alignment with the Word of God if we are going to live with a healthy, positive, God-perspective, irregardless of the turmoil all around us.
What we dwell on matters. This is the environment that marinates our brain and affects our emotions, attitudes and the actions that fill our lives… “Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think on these things” (Philippians 4:8). To surrender our thought life to Christ is life changing! In Him we have abundant hope, life, joy, new beginnings, and a great anticipation of wonderful things ahead.
“Let the mind of Christ dwell in you richly.”
