Redeeming The Time

The streets of our town are decorated with tombstones. Giant size skeletons, ghosts, and ghouls, are arranged to look as if they are coming out of the graves. Many homes are decorated to look like haunted houses and crime scenes.
Halloween, with all its attempts to glorify death, give us a great opportunity to share the power of Christ. Jesus said, “The day is coming when all that are in the graves shall hear the voice of the Son of Man and shall come forth (John 5:28,29). Through His cross, Jesus “destroyed him that had the power of death, that is, the devil, and rescued those who through fear of death were all their lifetime like slaves in bondage” (Hebrews 2:14,15).
Life is far too precious to joke about sin, death, violence, and hell. But don’t buy into the lie that this is Satan’s day and the most evil day of the year. It’s not true. Each day has its own evil, but the Lord tells us to “redeem the time, because the days (all days) are evil” (Ephesians 5:16). The good news of Christ’s power and love is sweetest in the darkness.
Jesus confronted darkness with light, lies with truth, and hatred with love. Praise God He didn’t hide from our sin and darkness, but confronted it, slew it, and rose again to bring us Eternal Life. God bless your day as you chase the darkness with the Light of the world.
