Partakers of His Story

When Jesus first came, a small group of people, unknown and insignificant to the world, were anticipating His appearing. Zacharias and Elizabeth, old yet still serving; Joseph and Mary, living in poverty; nameless shepherds; nameless Magi, ready to travel, and aged Simeon and Anna.

God has a Book of Remembrance for those who wait for Christ.  But He didn’t just give them honorable mention, He made them “partakers” of the story. As they shared the waiting, the suffering, and the scorn, they shared the Glory. And the same truth is extended to us today… “Rejoice, because as you have been partakers of Christ’s sufferings, when His glory shall be revealed, you may be glad also with exceeding joy!” (1 Peter 4:13).

Through the Cross of Christ, God welcomes “whosoever will believe” into this eternal Story. He has “made us fit to be “partakers, sharers, co-heirs” of the glory that shall come.  Jesus gave the world a taste of His first dominion. How could anyone not long for more? Especially when it has been described for us in the Bible: “The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard lie down with the kid of goat; the calf and young lion, bear and cow shall feed together, and a little child shall lead them” (Isaiah 11).

How could we not have a holy discontent with this life? How can we not anticipate Him? What will Christ’s Book write of us? You can determine it even now.
