Our Perfect Savior

The Law of God: “You shall not see your brother’s ox or his sheep go astray and hide yourself from them: you shall in any case bring them back again…” (Deuteronomy 22:1-3).
Our Need: “We all like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, everyone of us, to our own way; and the Lord has laid on Himself (in Christ) the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:6).
Jesus: “The Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which is lost” (Luke 19:10) … “I did not hide My face from shame and spitting” (Isaiah 50:6).
The Rescue: “Christ Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live for righteousness: by whose stripes you were healed. For you were as sheep going astray; but are now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls” (1 Peter 2:24,25).
Jesus fulfilled every law of God in perfection. He did not hide from our desperate need but came to, “bring us back,” at the cost of His own blood. He redeemed us from sin’s death-penalty, imputes to us His own righteous nature so we no longer desire to stray, then keeps us by His power as we journey Home. He has also revealed what the future holds for Heaven and earth: “There shall be one sheepfold and one Shepherd” (John 10:16).
Salvation is a gift we must personally receive, through a prayer of genuine repentance over our sins, and faith in Christ’s provision of righteousness through His cross. Have you made sure that you’re in His fold? Knowing about Christ is not the same as receiving Him as your Lord and Savior.
May the joy of being rescued, and knowing it, be yours in these last days.
