Our Living Promise

When God promised Abram a Seed to bless the world (Christ), God “cut” a Covenant with him. Covenants are not just promises of the mouth, or written on paper, they are promises “cut” in blood. The idea is, “I will keep my word on pains of death.”
When Jesus was born, He came to us as God’s Living Covenant… “I give You for a Covenant of the people, for a Light to the Gentiles” (Isaiah 42:6). Simeon, an old man who had been faithfully waiting for Messiah to come, quoted this verse as he held baby Jesus in his arms and prayed: “My eyes have seen Your Salvation, which You have prepared before the face of all people; a Light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel” (Luke 2:30-32).
Every promise ever made to us by God holds its fulfillment in Christ alone. This is why Jesus lifted the cup of wine at the last supper with His disciples and said: “This is the new Covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.” Then He walked through death alone to forgive our sins, rose again in power, then ascended to the Highest Throne, with a promise to return when the world has heard the Good News of His power.
No matter how dark the days we’re in, “All the promises of God in Christ are ‘Yes!’ and in Him ‘Amen!’ to the glory of God. Doubly Guaranteed. Are you resting in Him?
