Only One Who Is God

The Good News of the Bible is this… “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him” (1 John 4:9). The term “only begotten” means “the only One of His Kind.” Five times the Bible uses this term to emphasize there is no other like Him. Jesus is both God and Man and that is why He alone can save us, fill us with His Spirit, and keep us forever.
Consider these vital truths regarding the “so great salvation” that Jesus provided for us. Only One who is God could have such spotless blood as to never need to repeat such a sacrifice… “He offered one sacrifice for sins forever.” Only One who is God could, by His perfect work, “perfect forever” those who place their faith in Him.
Only One who is Life could enter death and defeat it. Only One who Knows-All things (Omniscient) could die for every sin we have committed, thought, or omitted. Only One who is All-Powerful could “taste death for every human.” Only One who is Everywhere (Omnipresent) could diffuse His Spirit into the hearts of all who believe all over the world, to walk with Him in fellowship. Only One who is Eternal could “save us to the uttermost, because He lives forever to make intercession” for us.
We cannot add anything to Jesus’ perfect work without tainting it. The hour is late, but God’s invitation to find Eternal Life through the power and perfections of His Only Son, still calls:
“Done is the work that saves!
Once and forever done.
Finished the righteousness
That clothes the unrighteous one,
The love that blesses us below
Is flowing freely to us now.
