This week in Africa, in spite of all the horrific persecution, Christians gathered, waved Israeli flags, and declared, “Thank you for bringing the Messiah into the world. Christ is our Savior.”
What a contrast to what we’re hearing from some of the well-known podcasters in our own country, claiming Christianity has no roots in Judaism. This is willful blindness. God made a nation from Abraham to bless the world with a Savior… “I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing: and I will bless those who bless you, and curse those who curse you: and in you shall ALL the families of the earth be blessed” (Genesis 12:2,3).
Through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob came king David. Jesus calls Himself the Root and Offspring of David. As God, He is the Root (Source of Life) of the nation of Israel, and He “put on flesh” and was born in the “city of David” called Bethlehem.
Unless people know God’s Word and become grounded in it, they will be deceived by these famous personalities perverting the truth. “God has not cast away His people whom He knew before” is the promise of God’s Word – a rebuke to those saying Israel today is not the true “Israel.”
Romans 11 could not be clearer, that while Israel is “partially” blind to their Messiah right now, they will come to love and own Him in the future. They will get saved by “Looking on Him whom they have pierced” just as we get saved by looking on Him whom who was pierced for our transgressions… “And so all Israel shall be saved (Romans 11:25-27).
All sins – yours, mine, and every person from every nation in the world - Jesus took willingly upon Himself, that “whosoever will” come to Him before Judgment Day, in repentance and faith, will receive the free gift of forgiveness and eternal life. Then the Bible shows us the future where Jesus, the Lion of Judah, will return to gather true Believers to Himself and defend His nation on earth.
Satan is the great deceiver – but he can only deceive those who don’t know their Bibles. The first armor of the Believer is the Belt of Truth. Stand firm on His Word.
