Like Grass

God gave Isaiah a command to preach the shortness of this life… “All flesh is grass, all the beauty of it as the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, because the Spirit of the Lord blows upon it. Surely, people are like grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God shall stand forever” (Isaiah 40:6-8).
Life is short because God shortened it due to human sinfulness. God is so serious about sin, He put a death penalty on it, saying “The soul that sins shall surely die.” But the message of God’s Word is that through forgiveness of sins, God will lift the death penalty off us, and grant everlasting life through the exchange Christ made at the Cross… “He who knew no sin, became sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Gospel means “Good News.” The temporal ones can become eternal – because the Eternal One died for us and rose again. The sinful ones can become righteousness – because the Righteous One bore our sins in His own body on the tree. And this Gift is available to everyone through a prayer of repentance and faith in Christ – a way that is fair and accessible to everyone.
What a transformation is ours: “For, as sin once reigned in our lives bringing death, even so now might grace reign through righteousness bringing eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 5:21).
Are you temporal or eternal?
