Frailty & Majesty

King Uzziah (aka Azariah) was only sixteen years old when he became king and ruled for 52 years. “He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord” (2 Kings 15:1-3). (Although his reign wasn’t perfect)…

“In the year that King Uzziah died I (Isaiah) saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and His train filled the temple” (Isaiah 6:1). This was the beginning of Isaiah’s prophetic commission and it all started watching a man that pleased the Lord, die. Oh, the pain of our human frailty!

There is a shaking of the nations that occurs when the Godly die. The demonic realm cheers in evil delight as they see death as victory, but pay attention to the words of Isaiah… he saw the Lord as the True King over all… “high and lifted up” - completely sovereign, in perfect control and reigning in majesty despite the frailty of humanity. His “mantle filled the temple” speaking of His glory, spreading His influence throughout Heaven and earth.

A holy reverence filled Isaiah with awe and wonder! What a contrast to the instability and frailty of earthly power. He needed this glimpse of God and the Heavenly realm, and so do we! It places all tragedy in its proper perspective and reminds us that someday we will all be with God, our Savior, in that Perfect Place. This awe soon led to another vision in Isaiah 6:1-3, “Above the temple of God stood the seraphims (angels): each one had six wings; with two he covered his face, two covered his feet, and with two he did fly. And one cried unto the other, and said, ‘Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!’” (Isaiah 6:2,3).

I pray that we can capture Isaiah’s vision in our hearts and be comforted with it. God is still on the Throne reigning in perfect Holiness, and soon the trump will sound and the Lord shall descend, and we will be gathered unto Himself where we will dwell forever with Him. Our frailty exchanged for Glory! Come Jesus, Come!
