Faith Rests On Facts

“I am The Lord your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods before Me” (Exodus 20:3).  God spoke these words to the children of Israel AFTER they had seen His power over Pharaoh, and AFTER witnessing His ten judgments on all the false gods of Egypt. God was not making an unreasonable request of blind faith.

AFTER 40 years of seeing God’s miraculous provisions and power in the wilderness, Moses said to the next generation… “Know therefore this day, and consider it in your heart, that The Lord is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is no other. Therefore, you shall keep His statutes and commandments…” (Deuteronomy 4:39,40).

The same truth is given to us AFTER Jesus walked this earth, did countless miracles before multitudes, died publicly, rose again to be seen by over 500 people (at the same time), and by His disciples for 40 days before His ascension. Only AFTER defeating death, and rescuing us from its claim on our lives, are we told… “There is salvation in no other: for there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

God never demands faith without first revealing His power and righteousness. Biblical faith is not blind. It is reasonable, logical, and intelligent, because it is evidence-based. Nor is Biblical faith a gushy feeling that comes and goes. It’s a rooted conviction that God is true because of the facts.  This makes true faith unshakable. Lastly, Biblical faith is more than head knowledge, it results in a wholehearted response to follow and serve Christ, in love and gratitude, while awaiting His return.

How safe is the life built on Jesus!
