Enduring Has Rewards

Life is a sequence of challenges that (if we allow it), will refine us, drawing us closer to Him as we learn what it is to grow in His likeness with grace and maturity. Nothing about this process is easy or comfortable, but it bears fruit that has eternal rewards.
“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him” (James 1:12). It’s a sobering thought to recognize that the way we conduct ourselves through trials reveals the true us. Not only is the world watching, but the angelic realm is, too (1 Peter 1:12). It brings a whole new level of importance to our trials, that they are teachers, not just troubles, and refiners rather than destroyers. God allows them for a Divine purpose.
“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when His glory is revealed (1 Peter 4:12-13).
These trials will pass and when they do, what will be left? Hopefully, hearts that love deeper; a joy that is tethered to eternity not the temporary, a grace that can endure hardship and still see the goodness of God. A heart that knows how to endure well will have a testimony that points everyone to God’s sustaining love. And when He comes, He has recorded all the rewards that will be given for all that was endured in faith.
May our trials continue to grow us and refine us, into His likeness.
