“Now thanks be to God, who ALWAYS causes us to triumph in Christ, and makes manifest the fragrance of His knowledge through us, in EVERY place” (2 Corinthians 2:14).

For those who are serious about living for Christ, a truth we must never forget is that we do not go through this life striving for victory, we go through life standing on the victory Christ has already won. God ALWAYS leads us in Christ’s victories, EVERY place we go. Let that sink in. It’s not “sometimes” leads us, It’s always. It’s not “some places,” but EVERY place we go.

This is a mindset we must grasp… “Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57). This is a victory over evil, over death, over every enemy, given to us to stand on by faith and operate from.

When David killed Goliath, the giant Philistine captain, the other soldiers on David’s side knew God had given them the victory. They jumped into action and chased their enemies based on the triumph they had already seen. On a far greater scale, we know that Jesus is risen and has guaranteed the end of Satan and those who serve him. We stand on His merit, armored in His truth, awaiting His return.

This same word for “victory” is also translated “conqueror” and “overcomer.” It’s the Greek word “Nike” that a shoe company took to represent champion athletes. Jesus said, “Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” And because He did just that, “whosoever receives Jesus Christ as their Savior also “overcomes the world” (1 John 5:4,5).

No matter how dark our world gets before Christ returns, tuck 2 Corinthians 2:14 in your memory bank - then go face your day.
