The Appearing Of The Glory

With the Feast of Trumpets beginning on Friday evening, it’s encouraging to look in the Bible and see what these Feasts celebrated in earlier times. King Solomon chose to celebrate the completion of the Temple on the Feast of Trumpets (1 Kings 8:2).

The last item to be placed in the Temple was the Ark of the Covenant. As they placed it into the holy of holies… “The cloud (of glory) filled the house of the LORD, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the House of the LORD” (1 Kings 8:10,11). 

These two truths belong to us as well, because all Christians are called “God’s building.” Rather than a building of brick and stones, God has chosen to dwell in the hearts of those who love Him…  “In Christ all the building fitly framed together is growing into a holy temple in the Lord” (Ephesians 2:21).

One day soon this “living Temple” will be complete and the glory of the Lord will fill this House. This is why we are encouraged to be… “Looking for that blessed hope: the appearing of the glory, of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:13). 

Jesus is the Foundation of this Living Temple and the crowning Glory when it’s finished. In spite of earth’s distresses and persecutions, this Temple continues to grow with people from all nations, united in love for Jesus Christ.

What a day of joy it will be when “Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall you also appear with Him in glory” (Colossians 3:4). Anticipate the joy of His return this Feast of Trumpets!
