Sifting

Before Jesus went to the cross, He made three statements that should echo around the world… “Now is the judgment (sifting) of this world; now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw (invite) everyone unto Myself” (John 12:31,32).

First, the Cross of Christ is the means by which everyone in this world is sifted for Heaven or Hell. It is God’s process of investigating hearts. God is looking for truth-seekers, who will have an attitude of repentance (and rejection) toward sin, to receive a new life of righteousness, fellowship, and eternal glory, through His Son.

Secondly, for those who choose Christ, the Cross is the means by which the “prince of this world” is cast out of your life. The devil, who holds the power of death over sinners, has no authority over those who are forgiven and made right by the blood of Christ. The Believer is immediately transferred out of the kingdom of darkness, into the Kingdom of Light. The Cross is the deathblow of Christ to the serpent’s power. The Lake of Fire awaits him, and those who side with him.

Thirdly, is that this glorious invitation is extended to all humanity. The salvation offered at the Cross was not for a select few as some claim. Jesus publicly declared that it is offered to everyone who will come in repentance and faith.  

These days of ‘sifting’ are almost over. We see the divide between those loving evil and those loving what is right, good, and true. Our world has had the gift of time and opportunity to hear the Gospel in preparation for Jesus to usher in His Kingdom. Don’t be alarmed by the state of our world – be ready.
