Reaping What We Sow

As a culture we seem to have forgotten that there are consequences to actions. Liberal judges are making sure there are little to no repercussions for bad behavior and the problem continues to metastasize. The alarming trend we see now, is that this mindset has wiggled its way into the church. This idea that we can obey God in the areas we want and ignore the other areas as though they are optional, is so dangerous. Believing that as long as the good outweighs the bad, they are sure God will smile on them. This is not biblical… 

Scripture warned the Israelites that if they allowed other cultures to bring in their own idols (and their complete disregard for God), that the culture would deteriorate and ultimately be destroyed. God gave instructions and they were ignored. We have done the same in the name of empathy and have not protected our spiritual heritage. The repercussions include a future ruled by sharia law, and a wicked oppression, especially for women. (Deuteronomy 6:14,15, & Deuteronomy 7:3,4). 

God gave clear instruction to NOT sacrifice your children to Baal, but this “child sacrifice” continues (just in a different form today). The result is a culture that has lost the awe and wonder of each new life being a miracle - an Image bearer brought into this world with a purpose and a plan from God (Jeremiah 19:5,6). It’s a slippery slope into a comfortableness with casual death… abortion, then infanticide, then euthanasia on demand (MAID), and the culture’s hearts grow cold and unfeeling towards death (Matthew 24:12). What they have tolerated will be used against their own lives. They should’ve obeyed God… 

Choosing a life of comfortable passivity while the culture crashes and burns has got to be one of the church’s greatest sins of omission (Jude 1:3). It is not unlike the church in Germany that sang hymns louder so they didn’t have to hear the trainloads of people crying for help on their way to Auschwitz’s death camps. Would they have wanted someone to come to their aid if they were in the train? Are we only going to activate as a church when it becomes frighteningly personal? God calls us to stand up for those that are defenseless and have no voice (Proverbs 31:8). If we don’t… the ones in need next will be us. Not obeying has consequences. 

May we purpose to obey God in ALL things, in ALL ways, ALL the time, or we will have consequences that will affect not only us, but our children and their children. Obeying is not optional. May we lead as the church should and turn this titanic around.
