“The righteousness of God, which is through faith in Jesus Christ, is extended to all, and rests upon all whose who believe: for there is no difference, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely (without cost to us) by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” – (Romans 3:22-24)
Jesus is the glory of God. All God’s perfections are manifest in Him. Every perfect standard revealed to us in the Ten Commandments and Laws of God, were revealed in Jesus Christ… “But God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined into our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” – (2 Corinthians 4:6)
Standing next to Jesus, one thing becomes glaringly obvious… “There is none righteous, no, not one.” All have sinned and fallen short of Jesus’ perfections. We can all point to someone worse than ourselves to think we’re good, (conveniently not pointing to those better than ourselves), but the truth is WE ALL fall short. There’s no sense comparing ourselves with each other. Jesus is the Standard.
And He is also our Savior… “Whom God put on exhibit to be a propitiation (A legal payment, so rich and abundant, that it ‘overpays’ our debt of sin, resulting in an eternal standing of favor and peace with a holy and righteous God) through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for passing over the sins that are past, through the tolerance of God. To declare, at this time His righteousness: that He might be Just (not bending the law), and the Justifier (yet saving the guilty) of those who believe in Jesus.” – (Romans 3:25,26)
“Justified freely.” What an understatement of love.
