He Hears The Cries

When Cain killed Abel out of jealousy, who was there to hear the cries of Abel from the field? The Lord did. And He said to Cain, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries to Me from the ground” (Genesis 4:10).

When sexual predators ruled in the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, who heard the cries of the victims when parents and city leaders were too sin-hardened to care? The Lord did. He said to Abraham, “Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous, I have come down…” (Genesis 18:20).

When Pharaoh enslaved an entire nation and refused to let them go, who heard the cries of the oppressed? The Lord did… “I have heard their cry because of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; and I am coming down to deliver them...” (Exodus 3:7).

The assurance of God is that He sees all injustice… “The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry. The face of the Lord is against those that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. The righteous cry, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart; and saves those who have a contrite spirit” (Psalm 34:15).

This is the purpose of the Cross… individual pardon for sin is offered before the wrath of God descends upon a wicked world. There is coming such a day of Justice that the earth will reel to and fro… “The heavens and earth will shake; but the Lord will be the Hope of His people, and the strength of the children of Israel.” Hallelujah.
