Division Is Preparation

The last plague God sent into Egypt, before that famous Passover night, was thick darkness over the land of Egypt for three days… a darkness which could be felt. “They could not see one another, neither did anyone arise from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings” (Exodus 10:23).

This verse reminds me of what we saw in the SOTU address and what we’re seeing across the world – the clear division of light vs. darkness. But division is preparation for something greater. God divided the light from the darkness when He created the world. He divided the children of light from the children of darkness in Egypt, in preparation for Israel’s rescue. And Jesus divides His children of light from the children of darkness in preparation for their rescue from the Day of Wrath.

Darkness is the destiny of those rejecting Christ. Jesus said, “I am come a Light into the world, that whosoever believes on Me should not abide (dwell) in darkness.” He brought “life and immortality to light” through the forgiveness offered at the Cross. Condemnation comes when people "love darkness rather than Light because their deeds are evil.”

The wrath of God is coming on the children of disobedience. But the Lord already gave His Words of comfort to those abiding in His Truth… “That day shall not overtake you as a thief. You are all children of Light, and the children of the day.”
