When I look back over my Christian life, one of the greatest encouragements has been the example of true disciples, whose consistent walk with Christ blessed us. As Jesus said, “If you continue in My Word, then you are My disciples indeed.”

Continuance isn’t easy. When the Apostles took the Gospel to Asia, they preached the reality of spiritual warfare amidst trials … “They strengthened the souls of the disciples, and exhorted them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the Kingdom of God.”

However, ‘continuance’ is not just persevering in hardships, it is also a place of great privilege and blessing. Jesus said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with Me now these three days.” So He met their need and miraculously fed them. Those who hadn’t ‘continued with Him’ got to hear about it – but they never experienced it.

Jesus told His disciples of eternal joys to come, "You are they which have continued with Me in My temptations. And I appoint to you a Kingdom, as my Father has appointed to Me; that you may eat and drink at My table in My Kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel." And His words to us are just as alive and promising today...

"As the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you, continue in My love."
